How to Clean a Bathtub Like You Mean It
You shouldn't have to wait for spring time to come once a year in order to give you an excuse to clean your bathroom. Sure, it's dirty and sure, scrubbing the grime off the sides off your clawfoot bathtub is not something you want to be doing ever. Alas, you made your bed (or tub) and you must sleep in it. Now, this should be self-explanatory for the most part but for those of you who can only do things with careful instructions, read on further.
Before you tackle the task, open up your bathroom windows to air out the solutions that can be harmful to your lungs. To get started, slap on some rubber gloves. Although it does do its duty to keep you from squeamishly touching the gross things that lie on the bottom of your bathtub, its main function is to protect your hands from the harsh chemicals in the cleaning solutions you'll come in contact with. Pick up all the shampoos, conditioners and body washes and put them out of the way. You want your bathtub to be completely bare for easier access. Run some warm water and a bit of mild soap through the bathtub and have it drain. Now close the drain and spray cleaner in affected dirty areas. Wipe it with a soft cloth (be careful you don't use any abrasive scrubs as that will tarnish the finish of your bathtub). Repeat all over the tub from top to bottom. After you do that, get a pail and pour some hot water over the sides to get the spots where the water couldn't reach. If you feel any roughness in the bathtub, that means that area is still dirty. Continue putting a mild soap on it and spraying it until it's smooth.
Once you're done, take out your walk in tub stopper and throw the lint-hairball clump that accumulates on the bottom into the trash. Now all you have to do is wait and let the cleaning solutions work their magic!
