Bathtub Refinishing On the Cheap

If your bathtub is outdated or worn out and you were thinking of renovating your bathroom for a low price, tub resurfacing may be just the excellent option for you. Instead of having to take out and re-install a whole new bathtub, refinishing it can take only a few hours to complete. You'll have a brand new regular or walk-in bathtub by the end of the day without spending as many dollars.

Even though a completely remodeled bathroom with totally new fixtures may seem to produce a desirable new bathroom, you'd be shocked at how resurfacing existing equipment and countertops can give your space a facelift with almost the same results. Even beter, once you are done bathtub refinishing you don't have the same great mess that remodeling it would entail. This means no demolition dust and debris; no extra plumbing and no replacing or repairing walls that were damaged during removal. After the four or five hours it took you to resurface your tub, you can bathe in it the next day. Instant gratification!

Once you are finished refinishing and resurfacing the various fixtures in your bathroom, there is still one important thing to consider: post-maintenance. You do not want to go through the trouble of resurfacing your porcelain clawfoot bathtub only to wrecklessly damage it the following week. To make certain that your efforts were not in vain, it is recommended that you use cleaning products developed speficifically for tubs and tiles. Avoid any abrasive materials that would require you to scrub harshly. In the same vein, also steer clear of cleaners that contain bleach, citrus or other acidic chemicals. The bleach causes discoloration and the astringent nature of acids has the ability to strip the bathtub of not only the refinish but also the original finish. Use a sponge or soft cloth when applying a gentle cleaning solution and wipe down the bathtub with utmost care.
